Firuzeh Mahmoudi, an Iranian-American mother and environmental scientist from Berkeley, California, drew together friends to organize the Global Day of Action. In the Bay Area, this included Iranian Americans serving in local government: San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and Brisbane Mayor Sepi Richardson.
